Floating PV Peyrolles-en-Provence

The Peyrolles-en-Provence solar site, located in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of France, is now fully operational, marking the first floating solar project by Boralex. The site boasts a total surface of 12.6 acres, on which more than 43,500 floating solar panels have been installed, providing green electricity to around 5110 households. With an installed capacity of 14.6 MW, this solar site is expected to avoid the emission of approximately 35 tons of CO2 annually.

The floating PV installation at the Peyrolles-en-Provence site presents several benefits, including the potential to make use of otherwise unused water surfaces, reduced land use, and the potential for increased efficiency through cooling from the water. Additionally, this installation can help to reduce water evaporation, which can be a particular concern in areas facing drought or other water scarcity issues.

In addition to the installation of the floating solar panels, Boralex has also implemented a range of services from meteocontrol to ensure reliable and optimized operation of the site. These include the use of the VCOM for monitoring, a blue’Log® XC, Power Plant Controller, and sensors to measure and process both solar and environmental data.

To ensure reliable operation and efficient energy production, the site has been connected to the mid-voltage grid, with a range of control and monitoring systems in place to optimize the orientation of the solar panels based on environmental factors. By incorporating meteocontrol's VCOM and other services, the Peyrolles-en-Provence solar site is expected to achieve efficient and reliable green energy production for years to come.
